DAYS OF THE YORE

The trustees of Diwan Chand Memorial Education Society are greatly indebted to their Father Late Shri Diwan Chand Ji for being the source of inspiration and motivation of this noble and sacred cause of Education. As the results of his blessing and the pioneers’ sincere dedication and hard work, the school was founded on 3rd December , 1982. This year marked the beginning of an institution par excellence and thus laid the foundation of the Rainbow English Sr. Sec. School.
Since then, the school has to its credit innumerable achievements. And it has crossed many a milestones during its journey towards fulfilling its goals.
Rainbow English Sr. Sec. School is affiliated to C.B.S.E, recognized by the Directorate of Education & is certified with 9001 – 2000 certificate. It is a co-educational school. A school with a difference. A school that has carved a niche for itself in the Janakpuri area and is still moving a head with the same zeal and has been bestowed with a prestigious tagline from “CBSE NEW GENERATION SCHOOLS.”

Now there is no looking back as Rainbow believes in “Change is the parent of progress.”

LOOKING BACK – AN OVERVIEW

The 80’s – The formative years…

A seed was sown

1982:  The trustees of Diwan Chand Memorial Education Society are greatly indebted to their father Late Shri Diwan Chand Ji for being the source of inspiration and motivation for the noble and sacred cause of education. 1988:  Another feather in the cap. Land for the construction of the school was allotted by D.D.A.

1989:  The school held its first session. The 90’s The structural Growth

1990:  The school set up its Senior Secondary classes and thus had a meaningful tag attached to it.

1991:  Bhoomi Pujan was carried out. First batch of class X passed out with flying colours.

1992:  The school bid farewell to its first outgoing batch of class XII.

1993:  The school had set up fully equipped Science Lab.

1995: EFA (Educational for all started) night classes for slum dwellers, masons etc. were conducted under this programme.

1996:  A detailed blue-print for the construction and inauguration of New building was laid out keeping in mind the escalating strength of the school. In the same year students of Rainbow participated in the National level Science Congress headed by Mrs. Raghavan in Hyderabad Rashmi Negi brought laurels.

1997:  The School Participated in the International Science Exhibition at Lucknow headed by Mrs. Manisha Negi. Mrs. Raj Rani was appointed Principal of the school.

1998:  The new building was inaugurated by Prof. Asis Datta, Vice Chancellor J.N.U.

1999:  Scouts and Guids cell formed Science Models and S.U.P.W selected upto the state level.

(2000-2007) – Turn of the Century : Golden Blossoms and New Horizons

2000:  ‘Shram’ the first edition of school magazine released.

2001:  Principals’ Seminar on HIV/AIDS conducted by SARD Distt. West’ Diksha Samaroh was held in Rainbow English School. Principal, Mrs Raj Rani was conferred with Dr. S Radhakrishna Memorial Award for the first time. NCC Battalion also came into force.

2002:  Rainbow International School at Himachal set up. The school performing group presented Rajasthani dance, ‘Vijay Gatha’ and bagged the First Prize along with the Flag Marchers at Rajpath.

2003:  Dance performance on Ruplic Day at Rajpath, Gramin Beti Ki Abhilasha fetched second Prize for the school. Students stood second in the 38th Youth Parliament.

2004: The Fourth Position in the 39th Youth Parliament was bagged by the school. Rainbow Dreamland for tiny tots was inaugurated by Mrs. Madhu Pant, Director National Bal Bhawan.

2005:  A Grand Annual Function ‘Shrinkhala’ held in the school premises with Sh. Arvinder Singh Lovely as the Chief Guest.

2006:  State Teachers Award was conferred on Principal Mrs. Raj Rani at Talkatora stadium by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dixit. Dr. J.R. Kashyap was honoured with the Lift Time Achievement Award – 2006. First Inter-School on the Spot Painting Competition was hosted by Rainbow, around five hundred students had participated, from various schools, cash prizes were awarded to the winners.

2007:  School attained the ISO-9001-2000 certificate from the German Co. T.U.V.
